Since 1983 I have been a licensed marriage, family and child therapist and a State of California board certified clinical hypnotherapist in private practice in Laguna Hills, CA. My academic background includes being a summa cum laude graduate, a Phi Beta Kappa member and a two-time Fulbright scholar. As a sophomore in high school, fascinated by the power of the subconscious mind, I began studying psychoneuroimmunology, i.e., mind-body healing. I subsequently continued this field of study, which eventually led me to earning a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Concurrently with my private practice, for ten years I also served as an Associate Professor of Human Services at Saddleback College, the last three years of which I was the Lead Professor for the Annual International Eating Disorders Institute.
Currently, I divide my practice between counseling and psychotherapy, collaborative practice and mediation of divorce and post-divorce parenting issues. When time allows I also provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy at a ranch in Trabuco Canyon, CA.
Perhaps the most important ancillary service in my practice is Freida, a yellow Labrador, who is my canine co-therapist.
